MMSGS 2009 Tournament: Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage
This three-round tournament will be played during the fourth quarter of 2009. The game is the Avalon Hill
classic from the 1990s, re-issued in 2007 by Valley Games. The tournament is being organized by
Charlie Ward; contact Charlie
to join the tournament. Click here to view the 2nd edition rules posted
on this Web site.
The tournament rules are:
- Players will bid PC markers for choice of side: Players each roll a die to determine who will bid
first. The winner bids any number of PC markers (including zero) for their desired side, then the
opponent either accepts the bid or else bids higher for the same side. The bid alternates until
agreement is reached. The losing bidder then places PC markers equal to the amount of the winning
bid prior to the start of play.
- The total province count for all games will be used as a tie-breaker
for final results. Games are to be completed to the end of a turn; for a player conceding their game
prior to the end of Turn 9, one point will be to be added to the province count
of the winner and one subtracted from the loser for each uncompleted turn. If either player wins an
immediate victory by capturing the enemy capital by seige or by eliminating all the enemy PC markers
the province count will be taken as 18 to 0.
- Report game results to Charlie.
